Practice Areas

As seasoned litigators with over 25 years of combined experience, Thomas & Wickenheiser has the necessary experience to provide you with guidance and representation in many different areas of the law, including the following.

Medical Malpractice

Lawyer ConsultMedical malpractice occurs when doctors, nurses, aides, assistants, and other medical workers provide substandard treatment to a patient. This may occur due to procedural mistakes, carelessness, or other professional failings. While most doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers work hard to help those in their care, preventable mistakes happen. Hundreds of thousands of patients are injured annually as a result of preventable mistreatment.

The crux of a medical malpractice claim is to determine whether other medical professionals in the same field would have acted in the same way in the same circumstances. To make that determination, medical malpractice lawsuits rely on expert witnesses to explain to a jury whether or not a medical professional acted in accordance with other competent medical professionals in the same field. Therefore, attorneys handling medical malpractice cases must have the ability to retain the necessary experts to opine that medical negligence occurred.  At Thomas & Wickenhesier, we have experience in handling medical malpractice cases and have consulting physicians available to assist in evaluating a potential claim.

If you or a loved one has been injured due to the negligence of a healthcare provider, we encourage you to contact us for a FREE initial consultation. We never collect a fee unless we are successful in getting money for you.

Social Security Disability

Social Security disabilityKATHRYN J. WICKENHEISER, Partner benefits can provide the financial support needed for those who are disabled and cannot support themselves.

Social Security disability insurance (SSDI) may be available to a person who has a disability that renders them incapable of working for at least one year, or who has a terminal illness. In addition to meeting disability requirements, applicants must have also worked a sufficient number of years (paying into the Social Security program through employment tax deductions) prior to becoming disabled.

Supplemental Security income (SSI) may be available to persons who are not eligible for SSDI because they have not worked enough to be insured. SSI provides monthly income to people who are disabled, blind, or over 65, and are income-eligible. SSI may be the only option available for children in need of disability payments.

After you have been disabled, you need someone who is going to fight for you. Whether you are only considering filing for Social Security disability benefits or you have already sent in the application, you can always turn to Thomas & Wickenheiser  to learn what steps to take next.
